Vashti: or, Until Death Us Do Part
By Augusta Jane Evans Wilson

The Princess Adelina
This is a wonderful book!

The Inheritance by Louisa May Alcott
This is the author's first book, written when she was seventeen, and the book is ever so much better than the movie.  Producers today like to take old books and interpret them through film, but because of their worlviews, they can have a complete different take on the book than I have.  (Some of the authors I like have been completely misrepresented by modern people who write introductions to their books.)

An Old-Fashioned Girl
By Louisa May Alcott
I really like this book.  It was interesting to find that people a hundred years ago had the same sin problems as people today, and that girls had the same struggles to do what was right and not what everyone else was doing.

A Garland for Girls
By Louisa May Alcott
A collection of short stories, some of which are top-ranking favorites.

Eight Cousins
By Louisa May Alcott
I love this book, and its sequel.

Rose in Bloom
By Louisa May Alcott
The sequel to Eight Cousins.

Before You Meet Prince Charming
By Sarah Mally
One of the greatest books ever.  Every girl should read it.

The Chronicles of Narnia
By C.S. Lewis
The books are so great, why would anyone want to watch the movies? :)

Daughters of Destiny
compiled by Noelle Wheeler

Books by G. A. Henty
They may have been written for boys, but girls love these adventerous tales just as well!

Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends
By Sarah, Stephen, and Grace Mally

Raising Maidens of Virtue
By Stacy McDonald
I found this similar to Before You Meet Prince Charming, but it covers a lot more topics and may be not quite so high a reading level.

The Young Lady's Guide to Harmonious Christian Behavior
By Harvey Newcomb

Castle Rackrent and Ennui
By Maria Edgeworth
Ennui is very, very funny!  It is the story of a rich young Irish man who lives in England and tries all the typical pursuits of the "fast" set of rich young men but is still bored to death.  Eventually he goes to Ireland, learns to be unselfish and care about other people.  Then, now that he has a use for all the money he blew, he finds that it doesn't belong to him after all.  But now he cares about his life and other people and starts to work hard to gain what he took for granted before.

Harrington
By Maria Edgeworth
Probably my second favorite book by this author.

The Parent's Assistant
By Maria Edgeworth
Tales for children.

Helen
By Maria Edgeworth
My very favorite Edgeworth book! Very long, so it takes a while to read, but very beneficial as well!  The subject is truthfulness.

Moral Tales
By Maria Edgeworth
Tales for older children.

Ormond
By Maria Edgeworth

Rosamund
By Maria Edgeworth
An instructive tale for children

The Absentee
By Maria Edgeworth

                                  Belinda
                                  by Maria Edgeworth
My third favorite book by this author.  Unfortunately the author wrote some of the undesireable language one of her fashionable characters uses down in the story, so it should be edited before being read.

How to be a Lady
By Harvey Newcomb
A top-ranking favorite.

The Sword Bearer
By John White
First in the series "The Archives of Anthropos".

Gaal the Conqueror
By John White
Book 2

The Tower of Geburah
By John White

I read this one first, and it got me interested in the whole series.  I loved it!

The Iron Sceptre
By John White
Book 4

Quest for the King
By John White
Book 5

The Dark lord's Demise
By John White
Book 6, last book in the series The Archives of Anthropos

Mary Barton
By Elizabeth Gaskell
My favorite Gaskell book!

North and South
By Elizabeth Gaskell

Wives and Daughters
By Elizabeth Gaskell

Rainbow Garden
By Patricia M. St. John
One of my favorites!

The Runaway
By Patricia M. St. John
One of my favorites!

Star of Light
By Patricia M. St. John
One of my favorites.  Hamid is a little boy in Morocco entrusted with his little blind sister, Kinza.  He is to take her to the English missionary so that their stepfather will not sell Kinza to a beggar.  I really like this book!

The Tanglewood's Secret
By Patricia M. St. John
Sometimes missionary's children were overlooked!

Treasures of the Snow
By Patricia M. St. John
One of the things I really like about this author is that her books always inspired me to do something.  Rainbow Garden inspired me to start a museum.  The Tanglewood's Secret inspired me to try and build a wigwam.  Treasures of the Snow inspired me to take up carving.  Besides, Patricia M. St. John was a missionary, and wrote her books to teach children about children in other countries, and to draw them closer to Jesus.

Twice Freed
By Patricia M. St. John
The story of Onesimus and his master Philemon.  A fictional story drawn from the book of Philemon in the Bible.  One of my favorites!

All these books are available from either Vision Forum http://www.visionforum.com/  or http://www.amazon.com/ .  Parents should read books first and decide if they want to allow their children to read them and at what age.
